Massimo Bacigalupo was born in Rapallo, Italy, in 1947. In 1966, he moved to Rome where he became one of the founders of the Cooperativa Del Cinema Independente. He studied and worked at Columbia University in New York. His writings include a monograph on Italian experimental film which was published in 1975 by the magazine Bianco e Nero, an account of a trip to India (Notizie di Bamyan, 1970) and a study of Ezra Pound.
